Alexa Aranaz 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS -15 Wilson Gardens VISIT WEBSITE

An urban oasis in the sky that enhances our sensual connections with the environment. This post-pandemic design brings in nature and fresh air with full-height windows that open to all four sides. Each unit has over 50 sqm of garden space in lush verandas with in-ground planted trees and plants, along with unique alternating tree canopies that bring in the fresh smells of nature and the lovely sounds of birdsongs into your daily life. The panoramic verandas capture stunning views of the Sierra Madres, Wack Wack Golf and Country Club, the Ortigas and Makati skylines, and the Manila Bay sunset; creating an incredibly intimate relationship with nature and the blue sky.


Alexa Aranaz 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Catbalogan City Hall VISIT WEBSITE

The Catbalogan City Hall will be the new city hall in Catbalogan. It will serve as an expansion from the current city hall with a goal to masterplan and pioneer mountaintop sustainable living as a model for future developments. Locating the main City Hall on a higher terrain will also minimize the risk of floods and encourage the complete expansion of the new city.

The Forest space is visible from afar due to a large fallen tree. Inside the tree, children can climb up and take a peek inside. The images were conceived by artist Svetlana Shuvalova, which Olga Rokal transformed into play objects. The concept of the kids’ zone is based on a magical forest, in which, as in children’s fairy tales, the hero goes through interesting trials and enters a different realm. There is no single season in the Forest, with summer on one side and winter on the other.


Baumeister Jürgen Haller GmbH 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Cabin VISIT WEBSITE

Despite their apparent simplicity, small “cabins” have always been a welcome design challenge, where scale and materiality had to be resolved to get the maximum benefit from minimal spaces. Situated on a steep slope, this project sits harmoniously within its surroundings and embeds itself naturally into the terrain of the Rhine Valley. The compact, simple and constructive form of the structure is used by the client as a barn and storage space for landscape equipment.


Baumeister Jürgen Haller GmbH 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – House Rothenbach VISIT WEBSITE

This building can be found in Schwarzenberg, a small idyllic village in the rural region of Bregenzerwald. The perfect combination of tradition and modern spirit is especially reflected by its architecture – thereby wood plays a major role. Sustainable building, responsible handling of the regional building culture, and the reference to the alpine cultural landscape were the major requests of the house-owners for this project. They requested a contemporary and sustainable building mainly made of wood – a house that has continuance.


Carlos Zwick Architekten BDA 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Haus am See VISIT WEBSITE

Thousands of excursionists used to enjoy homemade ice cream and lemonade on this historic lakeside property in Potsdam until the old park cafe there closed its doors. 25 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, a Berlin-based architect fell in love with the overgrown property. He bought it, including dilapidated monuments, without a building permit, but with a vision: a family place was to be built here, a house that would uncompromisingly engage with the essential elements of the surrounding nature.


César Machado Moreira 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Casa na Gateira VISIT WEBSITE

The project for this holiday home in Afife, in the North of Portugal, takes as its main condition the ruins and the silent connection they established with the surroundings. With the belief that the ruins contained enough attributes to become the main arguments of the project, the principle was to find the balance between leaving all the parts intact understanding the structure and fragility of the original ruins and incorporating the necessary divisions to respond to the dwelling program.

Contaminar Architects 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – School “Casa da Árvore” VISIT WEBSITE

It starts from the imagination of the treehouse, where the main idea of being in contact with nature and discovery, allows to stimulate learning from a concept that meets the methodology used in school. “Casa da Árvore” appears as one of the first moments in which children have contact with the world of architecture in relation to nature.


Daisy Billowes 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Derwent Valley Villa VISIT WEBSITE

Derwent Valley Villa is a new build family home set on an open site at the heart of the village of Duffield, Derbyshire. Inspired by the local red-brick cotton mills with their functional elegance and strong proportions, this home is designed to sit comfortably in the village street scene of Edwardian houses, whilst capturing the essence of an architecture that is bold and purposeful.

Davood Boroojeni office 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Shamim Polymer Factory VISIT SOCIAL

The project proposal is related to a factory for the production of polymeric materials. The factory has a production, office, and research department. The project land is approximately square-like (60 meters long and 50 meters wide) and is limited to the neighbor in the north and west and to the street in the south and east. This land with an area of three thousand square meters is located in a small industrial town in Alborz province of Iran.

EXTRA – 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Slow Studio VISIT WEBSITE

The elongated shape of the land conditions the project, we have a narrow facade of only ten meters long; in addition, the fact of looking for compactness and total connection between rooms leads us to look for design options that allow us to introduce light and solar heat inside. Thus, the project starts from a practically square floor plan that uses two strategies to gain sunlight.

María Gómez + Giovanni Ocampo + Héctor Coss 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Casa Santos VISIT SOCIAL

Perched above a creek between the Baja California desert and the Pacific Ocean, eleven cubelike monolithic concrete structures make up the spaces of Casa Santos. Closely arrayed on a 2000 mt2 lot, the modules define connecting walkways and intimate courtyards extending the living spaces.
Each building serves as a bedroom or a living area, and the villa itself can become a single home or three separate units. The distinctions between interior and exterior architectural layouts, and the hierarchy of residential and guest units, are dissolved by the interplay and flexibility of a modular system.

provided a unifying, cohesive look throughout the home and complemented the white oak engineered hardwood flooring on all levels. Smooth white oak was also used to face cabinetry, create drawer pulls, build bookshelves and other built-ins as well as create an open cubby room divider with lower closed storage between the entry hallway and the main living area.

Paulo Martins Arquitectura 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Beira Mar House VISIT WEBSITE

Beira Mar House is located in one of the most typical and established neighborhoods of Aveiro (called Beira Mar). This residence is the result of a passionate and challenging reform, a reform that intends to return to the city and to its users a lifestyle which is free and in contact with outdoor spaces, with the sound of seagulls and the smell of the sea breeze, the color of the sky and the green of the vegetation.

PHILIP WREN 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – The Biscuit Factory VISIT WEBSITE

The Biscuit Factory is a 3-screen cinema and large multi-purpose community hub with a bar, food stalls, and a private hire space called The Biscuit Tin. The venue forms part of Broad Street Mall, a 1960’s shopping center that has been undergoing the same challenges as other secondary shopping centers striving to find a new purpose with the decline of high street retail. The building is a concrete frame with concrete slabs and Portland stone cladding to the street.

PIERLUIGI PIU 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – HOUSE ALONG SARDINIA’SOUTHERN COASTLINE VISIT WEBSITE

Shortly after the Lords bought this property, a new local law was enacted, forbidding any new construction within a distance of 300mt measured from the coastline. In addition, existing buildings could not be demolished and replaced with new ones, even if of equal encumbrance. Static consolidation and refurbishment of the existing situation and in-ground new construction were, and still are, the only permitted actions. The main challenge of this project was, thus, after giving-up the first project, to requalify and remodel the existing insignificant house without pulling it down, and consolidate the hill crumbling slope while creating an embankment where possibly embed a swimming pool.

STARH, Svetoslav Stanislavov 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – EOS VISIT WEBSITE

Greek mythology tells us the story of EOS – the goddess of the dawn. Every morning she rose to the horizon from the depths of the sea, in order to bring the light of the day to people.  The project, named after the goddess, is situated at the front line in the Chaika neighborhood, in the marine capital of Bulgaria – Varna, with only the Sea Garden and the Black Sea located in front of it, ensuring that the building is the first one receiving sunlight.

STARH, Svetoslav Stanislavov 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Umani Hotel VISIT WEBSITE

Umani Hotel is located in close proximity to Golden Sands Nature Park near Varna and looks over directly towards the Black Sea. The plot of land is significantly sloped from west to east, surrounded by a pristine landscape with valuable tree species and natural rock formations. The concept of the project is to create a contextual building that fits easily into the natural environment, that looks light, airy and unobtrusive, as well as to work together with all elements of the surroundings without being dominant.

Prashant Sutaria 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – The Monolith VISIT WEBSITE

Designed in “Traditional Modernism” style, the ‘Monolith’ is inspired by the organic forms of the majestic forts of Rajasthan. It’s a metaphor for new ideas based on the traditional art and architecture of this region. Located in the historic ‘Lake City, Udaipur, it is visualized as a solid marble block sculpted into a building, capturing the spirit of Rajasthani Art, Culture, and Architecture.

XStudio 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – House A VISIT WEBSITE

Located in Arucas, in the north of Gran Canaria, House A is inserted, through a contrast operation, in a plot between party walls and with a steep slope that forms part of a building plot of little architectural interest. The house is presented as a neat and simple volume that relates to its surroundings far from any nearby urban reference, formalizing itself autonomously, attending to other stimuli such as sunlight, views or the intrinsic conditions of the architectural object.

The original program of the Soares & Irmão building (1950-55) responds to the conciliation of work and housing. This intervention focus on the top three floors of the building previously occupied buy one private apartment and now converted on housing units. The main floor (5th) is dedicated to the social spaces and respective service spaces where the office, library, living and dining room, kitchen and small covered and closed winter garden

This is the apartment for a young man, located in an old house built in 1874, in the historic district of Kyiv. The owner leads an active social life, admires the ideas of Bauhaus school, connects with artists and painters. The studio wanted to make an unique apartment, with its individual features and character. It was to reflect the preferences and ideas of the owner’s way of life.

Located in Merida, Yucatan’s Historic Center, Casa Lupita pays tribute to the classic colonial architecture of its historic neighborhoods. This project involved restoration as well as architectural, interior, furniture and landscape design.

CALMM ARCHITECTURE 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – RADIO WAREHOUSE VISIT WEBSITE

Rehabilitation project of a ground floor and furniture design for a radio warehouse. This renovation project is conceived in order to promote the attractiveness of Corregeria street, It is located in Valencia’s Historical Center. The challenge focused on the public part, generating special interest in the user who passes through the area.


GIKU 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – GLEAM VISIT SOCIAL

A construction of four floor building known as the telephone station in district of Vilijampolė was started back in early nineties. Unfortunately, “Telekomas“ did not continue to develop this project in later years since it turned out to be unnecessary. In addition, unwanted gigantic and “powerful” structures of reinforced concrete were left to exist. However, in 2008 owners of “Telekomas“ tried to reapply reinforced concrete structures to build loft apartments, since mentioned constructions had a structure of industrial buildings and the height of a ceiling was 4,5 meters.


Holzrausch GmbH 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Casa Morelli VISIT WEBSITE

The house, a typical Tuscan farmhouse with foundation walls partly dating back to the 15th century, originally belonged to Tobias Petri’s family and was in a shell state for years. Then it passed into the ownership of the entrepreneur Alexander Springer. He and Tobias Petri had already worked together on three other projects. Holzrausch took the lead in the transformation from the shell to today’s Casa Morelli. The house is divided into a main house and a dormitory. Both houses are linked by a connecting building.


La Firme Design & Construction 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Elmire VISIT WEBSITE

This project took a space in a mid-19th century building that’s been a textile mill, a Campbell’s soup factory, and finally a condo complex, and tailored it to the clients’ personalities. As much original structure was exposed as possible. Posts and joists of massive BC fir became a warm accent.


Offices in Skytower 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Arhitecturall Ana-Maria Tudor & Florin Tudor VISIT WEBSITE

The 18th floor of the tallest building in Romania has received a new representative design for the entire Sky Tower. Having in mind the most important aspect of our client, of implementing their office culture into the new design, we stepped out of our comfort zone and created something special. They needed a fully functional and fully optimized for daily basis activity space, but in the same time, an iconic commercial product, for lease purposes.


PIERLUIGI PIU 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – HOUSE ALONG SARDINIA’SOUTHERN COASTLINE VISIT WEBSITE

When designing this villa to be built along Sardinia’s coastline it was my intention to link it to its geographical and cultural environment using a contemporary and sober language, yet unmistakably Mediterranean and referring to the traditional arts and crafts of this Italian island. Far from wishing to evoke Sardinia through trite conventional images, inspiration was found in reproducing some textures of traditional weaving (typical ancient and contemporary fabrics and carpets), jewelry (gold filigree), embroidery and basket weaving, transposing them into stone and ceramic finishes and coverings.


RIKI WATABNABE 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – BAR symbol VISIT WEBSITE

 A project to build a bar in Roppongi, Tokyo, Japan. Roppongi is one of the most popular and ever-changing newer cities in Tokyo and represents a lot of “movement”. In contrast, Riki Watanabe decided to create a calm, toned-down design, like a Chashitsu (Japanese tea room), to give it a sense of “quiet”.


Shiho Mizuno (PR) 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – DEJI CULTURAL COMPLEX VISIT WEBSITE

DEJI Cultural Complex is a new type of entertainment venue that provides a fusion of cultural-arts complex and commercial facility on its top 7300㎡ floors. The place has a sophisticated yet inviting ambiance since there are no walls between each area. Eliminating entire barriers freed the space from having boundaries between inside and outside—giving customers a little “preview” before entering the space. The entire design reflects the culture, people, and the city of Nanjing; therefore, visiting this complex easily becomes part of their lifestyle.


SIKORA INTERIORS 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – PROGRESSIVE HAIR STUDIO VISIT WEBSITE

The design of a hairdressing salon can be called an experiment! We wanted to create a unique interior that has never been seen before. The idea of the project was to combine Warsaw’s elegance and big-city style with a raw industrial character. That is why in the interior you can find such contrasts as a leather sofa next to a concrete reception desk or a wall in the barber area finished with raw plasterboard set against a neo-antique sculpture.

A bright and cozy trattoria with homemade pasta and pizza dough has finally opened its doors to guests in Yoshkar-Ola. At the entrance, a small market space has been set up with various Italian products and a wide choice of cheese prepared by the Dito team. Dito project is all about gatherings with friends and family. Naturally, creating a unique atmosphere to spend time with loved ones and enjoy it all together, making new traditions and memories.

Prashant Sutaria 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – The Monolith (2) VISIT WEBSITE

The interior design of this ‘Boutique’ hotel aptly called ‘The Monolith’ is a metaphor for new ideas based on traditional Art and Architecture. The guest floors are designed around an atrium called “Flying Elephant Court”. It is redefining this multi-utility atrium space which turns from Art Cafe to an Entertainment area in the evening for guests.


Volcán Studio. Jorge Torres & María Delgado 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Hair Studio Rehabilitation VISIT WEBSITE

This Hair & Makeup Studio is located on Gran Canaria Island (Spain), and with almost 10 years of presence, it needed a boost, to define itself and fully develop in a space adapted to its needs: the main objective. To do this, the design proposal defines an original, industrial and robust identity, which can be discovered in the design of its visual identifier and throughout the entire space through its configuration, structure, materials, colors, shapes, lighting, and decoration.

XStudio 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Naked House VISIT WEBSITE

Naked House is located in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in the historic working-class neighborhood of Guanarteme, which in recent years has become the victim of the unbridled urban growth of the city. This expansion has abruptly transformed the surrounding urban fabric, in which large-scale buildings coexist with humble self-built homes. The project, which is an intervention of one of these old houses, was born as an opportunity to claim another way of living, as an exercise of recovery and enhancing that which already exists and understanding the historical and cultural context in which the original architecture took place as its main asset.

Laurent Troost Architectures 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Tropical Shed VISIT SOCIAL

Located in a popular and industrial district of the city of Manaus, characterized by row houses and warehouses of all kinds, this project of an archeology office together with a leisure area is a reinterpretation of the industrial typology to create a manifesto of the necessary rapprochement between Urban and Nature, especially within the capital of the Amazon.

Batangas has the unique advantage of being a unique city proximate to yet independent of Metro Manila. The city itself is blessed with natural features that have allowed it to develop into the second largest port in the country and become a growing agro-industrial hub in southern Luzon. The human environment consists of natural landscapes and ample space, places that give us a sense of identity, and an environment that we can interact with. It is the nuances of these positive social and natural interactions that make an environmentally progressive and healthy.

Atelier Andrea Gassner 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Apotheke Tosters VISIT WEBSITE

There are a few consistent symbols used for the visual identification of pharmacies. We often see the serpent’s staff, originally the attribute of the god of medicine (Aesculapius) – sometimes used in relation to a stylized apothecary’s scale or twisted into the capital letter „A“ for the Austrian Chamber of Pharmacists.


Atelier Andrea Gassner 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Artistic intervention in urban space, Feldkirch for “Wolf Huber the St Anne Altar, 500 Years” VISIT WEBSITE

The artistic intervention made by Andrea Gassner to mark the anniversary year quotes fragments from Wolf Huber’s most important visual work. Alone the choice of the first name “Wolf“ as the initial typographical visual medium refers semantically to an ambivalent narrative. In the cycle of images for billboards in the James Joyce Passage iconographical quotations from Huber’s visual work are integrated into the capital letters W O L F. Huber liked to make dramatic use of light, shadow, and space. He preferred garish colors and exaggerated facial expressions.

Charlie Hearn 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – Ulaman Eco Retreat VISIT WEBSITE

Located inland in an area called Kaba-Kaba, Bali, this wellness retreat resort has been integrated into a forest that borders luscious rice fields on one side and a dramatic river on the other. The river converges water from the whole area creating a junction of small waterfalls that produces enough flow to power a hydroelectric generator that can sustain the power of the buildings within the complex.

DOM ARCHITEKTÓW 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – arch. Walenty Durka, arch. Emilia Durka-Zielińska – DA HOUSE view on Brodnica Landscape Park VISIT WEBSITE

DA HOUSE is an innovative wooden modular object made with certified wooden construction and wooden interior, ecological certified materials, and passive technology. We have translated ecological and functional assumptions creating a holistic architecture. The health of the inhabitants (& manufacturers), the highest quality of production (aging-free, modules), ecology, and timeless architecture have become a priority.

GISELE BORGES ARQUITETURA 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – SECOND SKIN VISIT WEBSITE

With merely 12.70 meters in width, the biggest challenge was designing on such a narrow lot, in compliance with the city’s building design code, and yet committed to a vision of a visceral, intense, living statement of architectural possibilities. Looked for inspiration in fashion design and fabrics, imagining “body envelopes”, covering the building just like an outfit, reshaping the building just as a fine designer piece of cloth enhances the body, exposing the best of it.


Joyce van den Berg, Team Integral Design Public Space 2022 AWARDS NOMINATIONS – BiodiverCITY_A Matter of Vital Soil! VISIT WEBSITE

During the development of Amsterdam’s Integral Design Method Public, it became evident that the primary component of the underground – the soil – is crucial to the future of public space. Yet we know very little about urban soil. Amsterdam, like many cities, is facing multiple ecological crises – climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, etc. – and large-scale transformation processes such as the electrification and digitalization of society to move to a climate-neutral future.

The basic idea of the design came about after seeing a stone on which a metal rod rests. The composition of both objects was very powerful and also simple/basic. From this, the design was further developed into a solid base or terrazzo with slots in which a simple, sleek lighting profile can be set up in different positions, depending on the use or the arrangement.

Jordan is known for its stone architecture, which functions as a mere cladding for the formwork concrete structural skeleton. For this project, there will be no unnecessary decorative clad element, hence, white plaster, a derivative of the Jordanian white stone architecture, was chosen to cut the costs of construction to the minimum.

Cerejeira’s Residence is a project of a shelter in the mountains of the South East of Brazil in which the main focus was the integration of construction into the natural environment, reducing the visual impacts that architecture can cause in relation to the surroundings. For that purpose, the priority was to use natural materials such as stones, woods, as well as a green roof. The house is marked by open and integrated spaces, facing a better view of the surrounding nature.

Mouanko is strongly marked by its fishermen people, its beach, its virgin vegetation, its history, and especially is part of the Douala-Edéa reserve. However, it must be noted that this locality which has much to offer is left in a state of neglect and suffers from degradation of its flora, coastal erosion, weakening its mangrove and its magnificent landscape.
